The band was formed in
1980 by John Green and has met for weekly practice first at Crewe then at
Winsford and now at Elworth by Sandbach. The Band plays at Fetes,
Festivals and Garden Parties as well as leading Veterans Parades and
providing Street Entertainment in various towns in East and South Cheshire.
The Bands high spot was playing at the Anderton Lift when HRH Prince
Charles officially re-opened it in 2003. The Band took part in the Marie
Curie Fund Raising Marches at Edinburgh in both 2000 and 2005.
The music played is mainly
traditional and well known slow airs, marches, strathspeys, jigs, reels and
hornpipes. The emphasis is on having fun and enjoyment while seeking to
improve the standard and range of performance. Members wear Seaforth
McKenzie Tartan and the Band turns out in smart day dress. All items of
uniform are provided.
The Band is currently looking to
increase its numbers and welcomes Pipers and Drummers whether or not they
have previous experience. Tuition can be given to those who want to learn.
